Rs 20 Crores Riding On Ramya

It's a known fact that actress Ramya has become a busy bee in politics, and her political career has left the producers of her upcoming movies in lurch. Now, a leading daily has reported that the producers have invested a huge amount on the movies, which were signed by Ramya.

Sources from the film industry said that the producers of Ramya's upcoming movies - Aryan , Neer Dose , Dil Ka Raja and an untitled bilingual flick, have invested Rs 20 crores in total.

Before contesting in election, the actress had started the shooting of few movies, which she had signed. After the election, Ramya's dates were not available for the movie makers due to her political engagements.

It is said that Ramya had also promised to finish the project by this year end. After the election, she had also given a hint of quitting the acting. She had said, "Public will not accept an MP who is running around trees in short skirts and sleeveless blouses."

Ramya was the first actress from Kannada film industry to enter Lok Sabha. She won over the Congress ticket in the recent Lok Sabha by-polls, which was held in August, 2013. She has also said that she will be very busy in politics from January 2014, for the Lok Sabha polls, which will be held in May 2014.

Jaggesh, who is paired opposite Ramya in Neer Dose, had raised his voice on Twitter, after he had heard that Ramya will not be doing the movie. He had asked the actress to bear the cost of movie making.

Jaggesh had Tweeted, "The actress has to pay Rs 4 crore for the makers of Neer Dose." The movie is directed by Vijay Prakash.

Answering to all the allegations Ramya had said that Jaggesh is trying to spoil her political image, and she had given the dates for Neer Dose in June, where the crew failed to schedule the shoot.

Ramya has asked Ambareesh to solve the issue as his words will be final in Sandalwood. It is said that Ambareesh played a dominant role in Ramya's victory.

M Sudheendra producer of Neer Dose has said, "Jaggesh sacrificed three films for Neer Dose. Being a politician, he has a commitment and understands the plight of the producer, whereas Ms Ramya has disappointed us. She did not promise to return the advance money as she claimed."

"We do not want someone else in place of Ms Ramya. If she fails to respond to our plea, we have no alternative but to approach the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC)," Sudheendra added.

Speaking to leading daily, director Vijay Prakash said, "Ms Ramya promised to complete the film, she did not specify the time she would give them. Forty days of shooting is yet to be completed."
